Dacorum Community Choir
Dacorum Community Choir was formed in November 2009 in a collaboration between Astley Cooper School, Hertfordshire Music Service and conductor, Rufus Frowde. It has already built a membership of more than 60 singers. We aim to give members the opportunity to sing together in a choir, perhaps for the first time, as well as to explore repertoire that will be less familiar to more-experienced singers (from classical, world music and folk to gospel and pop). Healthy use of the voice is encouraged at all times and although performances are given from memory whenever possible, the basics of reading music are taught.

Unlike many other choirs, we meet during the day, providing an opportunity to be in a choir to those who are unable to join an evening group. Our membership therefore reflects a wide range of the community, from students, young parents, the unemployed to the retired and elderly. Membership is £2 per week but this must never be an obstacle to membership and is waived for those members in financial hardship.

We meet from 9.45 - 11.15am during term at Astley Cooper School, St Agnell’s Lane, Grove Hill, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP2 7HL.

Dacorum Community Choir celebrated its 2nd Anniversary on November 3rd.
